Hi there,

Under windows 10 - free version: H264 performance is much laggier than in Resolve 14. H265 crashes (GPU warning showing up).

The free version of Resolve 15 beta doesn't support H265 (HEVC).

I know. Though H264 is also performing badly on my system. Compared to V14 it's much laggier.

Don't know how you got the 'GPU warning showing up' then if H265 is not imported.

It's weird that H264 and 265 work both on mac and are much faster and snappier to playback.

Confused now. So are you referring to the Studio or Free Mac version there ?

Free Version. H265 works on mac on the free version, which is confusing to me as well.

Don't have a Mac to verify that, but it begs the question - how come, when the BMD documentation states otherwise ?

Just downloaded windows free version, I can import H265 footage from a Panasonic GH5, but program can randomly crash when putting clips on timeline. Actually causes windows to crash to black screen :o

Can not reproduce with the Studio version. Sorry. :?:

I've rolled back to 14.3 for now, but testing 15 beta (free) on another PC, I find that it will indeed import GH5 HEVC HLG.mp4 (Main10@L5.1@High) clips (the lower bitrate variant) as well as some other HEVC UHD-HDR broadcast samples . And this was on an old box that I keep for grunt HD processing (AMD-FX6300, 8GB RAM, GeForce GT730, Win10 x64). Slow as heck on the timeline, but no crash. Go figure !

Well I can now be a bit more specific: the crashes occurred when dragging multiple H265 clips to the timeline. Dragging them one at a time worked fine. They were in the anamorphic 6K format. I don't see much point in investigating this further in the free version if this is not meant to be supported in the first place, but I would have liked to be reassured that everything worked 100% on my system before buying the program. I have 32GB RAM and 11GB video memory.

Ah, OK, so these are Long GOP HEVC (200mbps) format? Don't have any clips to test myself. Still, interesting that 15 beta 'free' imports H265 at all.

Hi,

You can be reassured: with the studio version, the GH5 10-bit 6K anamorphic works (4992x3744 px). Be careful to have a good GPU: here only reading in the EDIT tab with Show All Video Frame; My first GPU (GTX 1070) goes up to + 50%. Playback at 29.97 FPS with UHD project on a UHD TL. Attribute: Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.3x Anamorphic (new with V15) + Data Levels FULL.
