Subclips

PostMon Apr 16, 2018 3:46 pm

HI, I am loving the new Clip Name column (which wasn't on by default in my version of DVR 15.0.08.030) and the fact we can drag and drop a marked clip to create subclips but we need a way to display subclip names in the timeline.

The timeline still show the clip name with 'Subclip' after it. There is also no numerical increment so you don't know which subclip it is. Match frame does go back to the subclip but there is also no way to match frame back to the original clip which is useful.

I make subclips of long interviews and then edit those but it is useful to be able to see which subclip it is on the timeline like other NLE's. Just realised you can no longer edit the file name which is what I did in DVR 14.

Anybody found any work around?

Thanks Andrew

But you *can* edit the subclip name ... enable the "clip name" column and rename in media pool, or clip attributes and "name" panel.

Thanks for your reply and I know you can edit the subclip name but it is the 'file name' which shows in the timeline. You used to be able to edit the file name as well.

I believe there's an option to display clip name in the timeline. It's occurring on my system, I think something must be checked which is unchecked on your system.

EDIT:

That sounds very exciting and exactly what i need. I am using Studio on a mac. I can see the names in the bin but not on the timeline.

Go to View menu, uncheck "Display File Names".

I also experienced this confusion. I suspect many users will encounter it. Perhaps a tweak to the UI to put these two controls together or maybe turn them both on when one is turned on might head of a lot of confusion and support chatter.
