Weird Issue with BM Mini Monitor and Dell U2413

Please, I need hints. I'm facing a weird issue, and I've already called both supports: Dell AND Blackmagic. Dell blames Blackmagic. Blackmagic blames Dell. I'm alone.

I'm on a Mac, outputting image from my Mini Monitor via HDMI to my Dell U2413 - which indicates there's no incoming signal.
Here's the weird thing:

- If I plug any other video device into the same HDMI input on my Dell: it does work;
- If I plug my BM Mini Monitor to any other monitor via HDMI: it does work.

I tried different kinds of media (SD, HD), different setups on Desktop Video Setup... nothing worked.

Apps used:
DaVinci Resolve 14
Premiere Pro 12.0

System:
macOS Sierra 10.12.6
BM Desktop Video Setup 10.9.12
iMac 21.5 inch Late 2012; i5 2.9 GHz; 8GB Ram
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 512 MB

Tks!

Hdmi is a strange beast to tame sometimes. I have had issues with hdmi between 2 devices and after swapping cables only 1 out of 5 different brands worked. So try at least a few different cables.
Also i had devices (eg between beamer and raspberry pi) where i had to have it either disconnected or connected during bootime for it to work depending brand of beamer and cable.

Tks for the reply!
I've tried three different cables (all of them work on both, Dell and BM, but when plugged on other device).

Well, "tame" is a very precise term of what I'm facing:
(An update of my situation) I finally could put them to talk to each other, but it didn't last. When I was trying to play different kinds of media, Dell woke from the coma and finally displayed images. WOWW! But Not all the time... I kept insisting, playing and replaying the clip that originally made it work, and it was getting used to it and to any other clip! Suddenly it worked, in different situations, and both on Premiere and Resolve as it should be... (like it needed to heat the engines up). But I knew it would not last if I detached everything as I needed to do. And here I am again, in the dark.

I tried to isolate the problem, understand which clip, frame rate, size, codec, configuration etc. made it work but there's no common variable.

Did you try hitting it with a hammer and trowing it out of the window ?
Helps sometimes. :lol: At least gives you a pretty good feeling when this damned stuff refuses to cooperate.

Try to change the framerate in the output settings. My benq tv deosn't support 59,97 1080p for example, have to use 1080i

Sure! My monitor does support 1080p and 1080i, 29,97 and 23.976... But:

One more update on my situation:
- It is easier for the setup to accept 23.976 footage - WITH the 1080PsF output selected (even though it is designed just for the SDI output - and I'm using HDMI);
- I mean "easier" because after playing a 23.976 footage it MAYBE will play a 29.97 clip; Maybe;
- It is working easier on After Effects (works more often there than with Premiere and Resolve).

:roll:

Well- BM cards are now almost famous for their HDMI "compatibility issue".
I would suggest to buy cheap HDMI splitter etc. and put in the chain.
