Hi everyone,
A few weeks ago I upgraded my graphics card (from a GTX 970 to a GTX 1080). As soon as I did it, Davinci Resolve Studio 14 stopped working. Every time I clicked on the launcher, the software didn't even open, nothing happened.
I usually use an HDMI or a DisplayPort cable to connect my display from the GPU. I tried to connect my monitor through a VGA cable from the motherboard and this time the software started normally, but when I opened a project Davinci crashed.
When removing the graphics card, the software worked again. It just doesn't work for me without the GPU because it's too slow for color grading.
I decided to do a clean installation of Windows 10 along with all the drivers.
By reinstalling everything, I was able to use Davinci Resolve Studio 14 again with no problem with my GTX 1080 for about a week or more. But a few days ago it stopped working again. Sometimes I get the software to open by reinstalling the NVIDIA drivers and Resolve, but when restarting the computer the same thing happens again.
I thought the problem was the latest NVIDIA drivers or something like that, however the problem also occurs with older drivers.
I also tried using Davinci Resolve 12.5 and 15, but the same thing happens.
I don't know what to do. I don't understand why it worked well before and now it doesn't. Is it a problem between Resolve and my GPU / GPU drivers? Or between Resolve and Windows 10?
By the way, i tried the GPU with demanding games and it works fine.
I need help please.
Regards!

Update 1: Resolve is only working when I open it while my monitor is connected through a VGA cable from the motherboard. This works only when I install the GPU drivers from the Windows Device Manager. However, if I update to newer GPU drivers Resolve stops working when I open a project, even if I open it while my monitor is connected via VGA.
Right now, I'm working "normally" only if I don't update the NVIDIA drivers and if I open Resolve while my monitor is connected with the VGA cable. Then, I switch to my HDMI and DisplayPort display and Resolve works fine (I have noticed a few glitches on the screen a couple of times though).
It's still very uncomfortable to connect my monitor to a VGA everytime I start the software. And I would like to update my NVIDIA drivers normally because I use this PC for gaming to.
In summary:
GPU drivers installed from Windows device manager + Monitor connected via VGA = Resolve works
GPU drivers installed from Windows device manager + Monitor connected via HDMI / DisplayPort = Resolve doesn't even open
Updated GPU drivers (including the Nvidia Game Ready Drivers) + Monitor connected via VGA = Resolve opens but CRASHES when opening a project.

Update 2:
I updated to the latest NVIDIA drivers. Now I can use Resolve only when I follow this steps:
- I turn on my pc while my monitor is connected through a VGA cable to my motherboard.
- I launch Resolve (If I try to open a project while my monitor is connected via VGA, Resolve crashes. I'm able to open empty projects though).
- Then, I disconnect the VGA cable and connect my monitor through an HDMI or DisplayPort to my GPU - Resolve now starts as usual.
Even if I found a workaround, it's still very uncomfortable. I'll very grateful if someone could help me.
