Split forums?

PostThu Apr 19, 2018 2:50 am

Just a suggestion: consider different forums for Resolve Free and Resolve Studio beta testing?

The exact technical differences are bitsy and messy; also quite different the needs /expectations of users and their relative experience. IMHO, seems to be a much greater gap between free and studio issues (and what's available and what's not) and trying to understand or trouble shoot that, than for say mac vs pc vs linux.

Put Free in its own forum I say.
MacPro 7,1 16 core, 192GB, MacOS 15.1, Vega II Duo. Antelope Pure 2 & Orion 32+, UA Apollo x8. RAID-4 Thunderbay 6, RAID-0 Sonnet M.2 4x4. MiniMon 4k, Dell U3415W & BenQ SW2700PT. Nuendo, Wavelab, Resolve Studio 19

Not really:

If people would care to read it. Maybe making the link a sticky would help draw attention to it. Actually more vague is what's available and what's not in Linux since the differences are not listed in that chart.

I could see that leading to alot of duplication of effort over issues that are common to both versions and needless cross-referencing between the two (sub) forums.

If irksome questions arise pertaining to lack of awareness or understanding of those 'premium' features that distinguish the Studio and Free versions, as they are described in the Comparison chart, maybe it would be better to have a New Users section - the inference being that 'experienced/advanced' users would not be asking such questions.
