Hello,
I use Davinci Resolve Studio 15 BETA 1 under Ubuntu 18.04 everything working well except a option inside dual screen.
I would permute the right screen content to the left. The option to chose screen 1 or 2 is available. but when I select the other screen nothing change. I cannot permute screen.

I know ubuntu isn't supported, but the programm working very well, and i'm not sure it's the OS fault.
Thanks

What happens if you try this in Centos?

it wouldn't make any difference!

blackmagic didn't invent "linux!", and it's also not a worthless offspring of Centos.

in fact, all distributions and applications use more or less the same common base infrastructure.
the actual differences are much more insignificant, than most ordinary users and non-developers may imagine.

the real troubles and bugs of resolve are much more often related to nvidia-driver and library peculiarities, than caused by distribution specific differences, but even this flaws are exactly the same on all linux distributions, because these nvidia components are unfortunately only available in binary form and are usually up to the last bit identical on all distributions, but nevertheless even this usually works rather acceptable in practice.

no -- it doesn't make any sense to blame users for something, which can not be justified by reasonable arguments.

Martin, why so salty? Marc was trying to troubleshoot with you the issue, after all, resolve works as expected in linux centos.

So, if it is not the operative system, and it's not the software (work in win/osx/ centos) outta be an operator error.

well -- maybe i misunderstood marc, and he was really just encouraging the TO, but to me it sounded more like this well know sarcastic: "it's just your fault, if you don't follow the official recommendations! whatever you do and which bug whatsoever you'll stumble over, nobody will help you! because first andf formost you have to learn to follow our rules, recommendations and commands!"

and that's indeed an attitude, which i do not like so much.

i really respect the professional experiences and often very helpful hints from marc, but in this particular case he is IMHO completely wrong.

for many fulltime colorists and film industry employees it may not make a big differnce, which linux distributions is actually used in their studio. they usually also not have to maintain the affected machines and do not have make any other work on this very specialized tools. but many other people, have to take care about their machines themselves and use linux as their preferred operating system for all kinds of daily computer work. and in this case it makes a significant difference, if you are able to install and use resolve just like any other common application on any arbitrary kind of linux distribution (or at least the most frequently used ones), or if you indeed would have to rearrange everything else just around this one particular application and its often more than questionable requirements and shortcomings.

i therefore really think, there is no need to frustrate or blame those few brave idealists, which try to resist blackmagics force to reinstall and change their whole accustomed linux infrastructure, and still make use of the application in a slightly different context.

the issue reported by the TO looks to me much more like a general issue, which doesn't have any causal relation to the utilized distribution.

but instead of criticizing bug reports, which mention the real circumstances of the appearance of the issue in a commendable manner, even if it's not the officially recommended choice of distribution, we should be really happy about all this general interest and active feedback from linux users recently. even if their troubles are sometimes indeed caused by inadequate hardware or fundamental incompatible setups, they are quite often revealing issues, which definitely should be fixed in the high end advanced edition of resolve as well, to make the product more flexible and future proof. that's a very positive side effect, which will be most likely of significant benefit to people like marc and you and the more professional use of resolve sooner or later too.

I just got dual screen working now under Resolve 14.3 under Linux Mint 18.3. After turning Dual Scrren ON, I had to drag the separated window to the second screen myself using ALT-Left mouse click.
I'm not sure if that's a generally applicable solution though since my setup is a bit weird at the moment, with one monitor connected to the motherboard display interface and the other to the NVIDIA GPU. The two monitors have different resolutions too. I've been using a Decklink 4K up till now and hadn't tried system dual screen in Resolve before. Looks good I think but I'll have to move to Resolve 15 to get system audio to try it out properly though (and get around to rearranging my PC to fit a better GPU).
