downloading resolve?

PostSun Apr 29, 2018 8:29 am

with the growing size of the download (among the many other large d/l's, pointing at you m$), i'm wondering is there anywhere else to down load it from...

my problem is we're on a satellite connection, with 60gb/120gb on/off-peak. the off peak is between 1am>7am, and for this reason i use a scheduler, which works perfectly fine with all my other d/l's other than resolve, which i normally do by going to 'support', etc., on bm's website prior to going to bed, say around 11.30pm. my scheduler picks up the d/l address and then queues it for d/l at 1am.

unfortunately, this has never worked because the d/l connection seems to timeout, or reset its destination prior to d/l.

so, is there a 'direct' link somewhere to bm downloads?

I'd be glad to send it to you through we-transfer or another file delivery system, which would give you a link and hopefully let you schedule it. Or I could put it on my network attached storage and send you a link you could schedule.

However, I don't know if that's allowed by BMD terms of service and don't want to get in any trouble for doing so. Maybe Black Magic will reply and give some guidance. There's also the issue that they may individually code the downloads of software to provide a trail if there is any piracy involved.

Other thoughts. Are there any locations around you with free wifi that's not satellite? 800 meg should not take longer than a lunch or two to grab.

hi sean,

first, let me thank you for your kind and generous offer, it's greatly appreciated indeed...

i completely understand your qualms regarding the 'legality' of your offer as well and am happy to wait for some clarification from bm regarding the situation.

of course, i could download anything during my peak period, it's just that i would like to avoid using up my allowance on such downloads if possible. as for using any free wifi available - well i would, but the closest i can think of, with a reasonable 'lunch duration' speed would be some 150km away ;-( (this is one of the downsides to living in a rural paradise).

as a side note to this conversation, my real bugbear is with m$ and their sometimes HUGE updates. i've searched high and low to find out how to schedule the DOWNLOAD, not the install, and all i've really found is this:

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-update-winpc/schedule-the-download-time-of-a-windows-10/f8a02bdb-e9d9-4ebd-bda6-3fe4891ffd33

i've changed the settings and will wait and see IF it does change the download time as well as the install.

again sean, thanks.
