I've rendered dnx36 files for the editor's film project. Now, I need the Avid MXF files for the editor as well. What's the codec for that?

Hey Todd

Not sure I'm getting it.

You transcoded camera files to DNX36 for the editor to cut. What do you mean by "I need the Avid MXF files for the editor as well" ?

Is it because the editor couldn't deal with the first files you gave them? were they wrapped in .mov?

You can render out from Resolve in Avid's MXF flavor (OP Atom), DNXHD36/HR LB would both be a decent codec choice for offline materials.

We ended up going with ProRes HQ instead. The last time I rendered out MXF files, it took a 700MB shot, and created 7GB worth of data/MXF for the one shot. I was hoping to avoid that. So, fortunately, we're able to work with the dnx36 files and the ProRes HQ renders.

In my experience, ProRes and DNxHD/HR deliver very similar file sizes for the same level of quality.
