Audio Stuttering in DR15

I know I'm a newbie with this program, but I'm using an Android phone to record video. I'm recording at 29.97 fps at UHD. When I playback the footage as soon as I upload with Windows Media Player, it works just fine and the audio sounds great. When I upload it into Davinci Resolve and place it in the timeline, the audio stutters or sounds choppy, almost like static. My timeline and playback rate are both set at 29.97 fps. Encoded in H.264 and the audio is in AAC. I'm at a total loss as to why this is happening, especially since the audio sounds fine elsewhere. Even when I export the video, the audio still sounds choppy in the final exported video. Any input?

Windows 10
DaVinci Resolve 15.0.0B.030
Ryzen 1700x 3.5 GHz
GTX 1080 (Nvidia)
250 SSD running for boot and OS, separate 1TB SSD for video media storage (Samsung)
X370 Taichi motherboard (ASrock)
32GB DDR4 2800 GHz (Ripjaws)

Please use the search function, this has been discussed a lot recently. Two possible reasons:

– Audio sample rate 44.1 kHz instead of 48
– Varying frame rates (not rare with smartphones)

Fix: Transcode.

I actually just discovered this yesterday! My phone app was recording in 44.1 kHz instead of 48. Once I made the switch, it worked just fine.

On a side note, what is a good encoder to maintain quality but maybe switch frame rates? I tried Handbrake, but I can't seem to get it to maintain a decent quality video. Is there an app or program that can make the frame rate consistent across videos so that DR15 can handle them?

Handbrake should be OK, just use a good codec like DNxHD/HR, ProRes or Cineform.
