Calibration for Computer Display in DaVinci Resolve 14.3

I use an i1Pro to calibrate my NEC MultiSync PA271W wide gamut monitor.
All applications I use, Photoshop, Capture One Pro, automatically use the created calibration profile.
DaVinci Resolve doesn't seem to do that.
On page 661 it says I have to create a "dedicated color viewer LUT" for calibration.
And I have to use the 1D/3D Color Viewer Look-up table pop-up menu in the color management panel of the project settings.
What does this mean? What is 1D what is 3D - I opened up the 3D LUTs and saw many pre-fab settings, but no way to link to a custom calibration via i1Pro.
ALTERNATIVE
As an alternative it recommends "use Mac Display color profile for viewers" in the color management panel of project settings. I cannot find this setting in the color management panel.
As a professional photographer I have not been outside color managed system in many years.
If I cannot get this problem fixed - what use would color calibration have in DaVinci Resolve if I can't get the colors correctly displayed?
I am editing in FCP X , but would like to color correct in DaVinci Resolve. It would be great if you could give my a leg up on the DaVinci Color Management horse (which is so different from what I do in Photoshop and other applications)
