Audio doesn't consistently playback first frame on Edit

I am experiencing a bug in 15b2 where the audio doesn't consistently playback from the frame where the playhead is parked for 1 or 2 frames.
To replicate the bug:
Cut in a single frame of audio.
Park the playhead on that frame.
Hit play.
No audio will play.
Back the playhead up 1-2 frames.
Hit Play.
Audio will play.
I know it is a small thing, but when you are trying to cut together Frankenbites, accuracy is needed.

Are you in the Fairlight page?
Are you using Decklink, system audio or a USB audio device?
Can you hear the audio playback whens scrubbing on the clip.

I am in the edit page. Yes you can hear the audio when scrubbing and you can hear audio if you back the playhead up a couple of frames.
I have tested with similar results on the following systems:
PC:
Windows 10
15.0.0B.37
Decklink MiniMonitor PCI Card
PC:
Windows 10
14.3.0.014
DNxIQ
Mac:
10.11.6
15.0.0B37
Mini Monitor Thunderbolt
& System Audio
I have opened up a support ticket as well:
ZCQ-181-88240
Please let me know if you need any additional info or if you have any insight.

1) Have you this same behavior going on within the far-less-resource-intensive Fairlight Page?
2) Also, Nathan, what is the precise type of audio and/or A/V video file you're experiencing this audio malady with on Resolve's EDIT page, in the timeline
(file type, frames per second and data rate in Megabits per second, please)?
Do tell.

Have not tested in fairlight.
Bug appears with every type of media I have tested with. Are you not able to replicate?

I see the same thing with Decklink audio -- the first two frames are skipped during initial playback. With system audio, one frame is skipped.
This is on Windows and with .wav audio. Never fails in my case, 100% predictable, on the Edit page. Didn't try Fairlight page, but I recall getting the same result there.

I finally had time to test in the fairlight page and I am not seeing the problem replicated there.

Tested and bug is still present in 15b4.

This bug is still present in 15.1, just giving it a little bump as I am editing some videos in Resolve and editing the dialogue gets to be a bit tricky when you are not accurately getting the audio. I know there is a lot on the engineering plate, but would love to see this one get fixed!

As of the official 15 release, I haven't seen this bug. Are you sure the issue isn't lack of sync playback -- not uncommon with both system audio and decklink audio -- rather than skipped audio?

In the linux boxes, in v14 it was consistently not playing the first grange of audio.
I haven't try 15 yet at work.

An easy way to test this is to put a single frame of audio in your timeline. Place your playhead on that frame. Press play. You should hear that single frame play.
This does not seem to be the case on my systems.
Curious what you system specs are. I am have only tested this on PC is it possible that it is fixed on Mac? (Or maybe Walter can weigh in on Linux?)

It appears to be fixed on Windows, at least on my system, as tested with a 1-frame 2-pop as the first frame of an audio sequence, as of the official release of 15.
If you have other conditions where it fails reliably, specify and I'll try it.

This is good to know. I have been working mid sequence with mutliclip audio in 15.1. If you have the ability to test that let me know what you find.
I will try to recreate your situation as well and see what I find!

I tried a timeline with 8 independent audio tracks, none of it natively in synch with the video, and overwrote 1 frame of tone on cuts on various tracks and timeline positions, then started playback at the cut (the tone now being the headframe). Seems to be working.

I did some additional testing, and I am totally seeing what you are seeing. If I create a new project for testing it does consistently playback the first frame but when I switch back to a complex project that I am editing. Multicam, multiple layers, adaptive audio tracks Fairlight effects etc. It is not reliably playing back.
Perhaps it is a system resources thing or maybe a problem with the media, but regardless it makes it quite difficult to edit.

Have you tried the new audio rendering feature, in case it *is* a resource issue? OTOH, real-time audio playback defects seem to get baked into exports and renders.

Are you talking about bouncing the tracks? Or something else? Not sure what you mean by audio rendering feature?

Right-click an audio track on the Edit page, and you'll see a render out option. Am not sure if it's available on Fairlight.

Are you talking about "Cache Audio Effects"? There are no fairlight effects on the track that is not playing the first frame of audio. Just for testing sake I tried turning it on and no change, still doesn't play the first frame.
If there is an actual render audio output that I am not aware of please let me know. I am not totally sure that it is not a system resource thing related to the multicam group.

I think this issue is still in V.16. I wonder if it is in OSX issue as I have had it happen in Audacity as well. Can't figure it out.
