HDMI external monitor problem when scopes on.

PostMon May 21, 2018 7:22 pm

Not sure if this is just me or not since I can't find any posts here about this but thought I'd add it in hopes of any answer or two.

My workstation is running Win 10 Pro64 ver. 1803 w/ Titan 1080 GPU graphics. I have a Decklink 4K
Mini Monitor card installed that outputs to both an HP Dreamcolor Z24x via HDMI as well as a Small HD 702 OLED via SDI. I have tested Desktop Video 10.9.11, 10.9.12 and currently running
10.10.

In DR Studio versions 13-14.3 my external monitors fed by the Mini Monitor's HDMI and SDI look correct and virtually matched when the scopes either are on or off.

In between projects I installed DR Studio 15B1, then tried B2 and now testing B3 but all seem to have the same issue:

* the external HDMI & SDI monitors look matched when the scopes are off.

* when the scopes are turned on the SDI fed monitor looks correct but the HDMI fed monitor displays lifted contrast.

This is repeatable as the HDMI monitor's contrast reverts to the correct contrast when the scopes are turned off and lifts again when the scopes are turned back on.

Doesn't seem to matter if the scopes are docked or enlarged. I have tested with a number of high quality HDMI cables but the issue remains. I'm wondering if this has some relationship with 15.3 beta compatibility with HDMI 8bit FRC monitors or maybe versions of HDMI 2?

Hoping this gets fixed soon so I can start testing DR 15.

Keith,

Please see my post on the scopes having an effect on HDMI output.

viewtopic.php?f=32&t=73522&p=411929&hilit=scopes#p411929

I have had some email exchanges with support and I believe they are still working on it.

You may also find that the problem may not happen if you change resolution of the project/monitoring and/or if you change to 12 bit.

Thanks for the info Don.

The description in your post is exactly what I'm seeing here. I mentioned to BMD support earlier today that it looks like there is some type of output color space conversion happening when the scopes are opened because of the blanking. I shot a video of the live screens to show the issue and sent it to add to the trouble ticket.

As a side note, I tried using the Mini Monitor's HDMI output to a Small HD 702 OLED, which is compatible with both YUV and RGB signals and the lift doesn't happen.

Hopefully this problem will be fully sorted out by the release version.

I just finished testing 15 B4 and I see this issue with HDMI output still happens when the scopes are open. Really hoping to see a fix in the next beta or for sure by the full release.

I just finished testing 15 B5 and see the original issue of the HDMI output to the external monitor is still lifted when the scopes are open. I'm really hoping this gets fixed in the next beta or for sure by the full release.

Please address this issue ASAP. Thanks.
