No sound in Resolve Edit - Solved, need to set as default

PostTue May 29, 2018 11:24 pm

I am Using resolve 15b3
I have no sound inside my resolve editor for clips but after much searching online for a fix and finding none, I just started trying anything that made sense for myself.

I was able to achieve SOUND in the editor when I:

1> Switch Workspace to Fairlight workspace
2> Select Fairlight from the menu
3> Select patch input/output
4> (from popup Patch dialog window) select MAIN OUT as the source
5> Select my monitor screen left-right channels simultaneously as the source
6> as DESTINATION on the right select AUDIO OUTPUTS
7> Select my monitor screen left-right channels

when all four things are simultaneously selected...click PATCH
and I have sound now in the editor panel!
Great, but I have to do this each and every time I want to have sound.

Is there any way to set these as defaults so I do not have to go through this entire process each and every time I use the editor and need sound for sound editing?

Thanks in advance for any help, it's a great, great product!

Sincerely,
David

David,

In addition to details from here: viewtopic.php?f=32&t=71894 (hardware, OS, Resolve Studio vs non-Studio, diagnostic log archive), could you also include these two details:
a. a screenshot of your speaker setup under Video and Audio IO in Resolves Preferences Dialog
b. an exported project file of a simple project with the error - from Project Manager

Thanks

Hello Shrinivas,
thank you for the information that I needed in order to be more specific.
I am honored to have Black Magic Staff looking at my post intended for the community of users.
That was not my intention, as I have not YET purchased the Studio version which would make my situation deserving of such attention.
I guess I erroneously assumed that Black magic thought it best if editors did not have sound while editing and had designed it that way. I never suspected it might be an error. Now that I think about it, of course, that could not be the case since Fairlight is an audio editor! (***slaps forehead...DOH!***)
I just hoped another user could tell me how to set my audio output defaults in a way that would give me audio by default.

Although I have never had audio inside Resolve (I started testing it with v14)
my current NON-Studio version is v15.0.0b.43 ( though I am going to download the newest beta in 5 minutes)

these were set properly

It was only setting these inside Fairlight dialog that gave me sound

I do appreciate you, being staff, interacting with me.

Respectfully,
