Any way to stop timeline space from moving?

PostThu May 31, 2018 9:08 pm

Hi,

When I use the mouse to try to circle and highlight a group of clips I almost invariably end up moving the timeline space down in the process, obscuring video clips below the line separating them from audio. This happens as soon as I click on the mouse and begin to move it and before I am able to highlight those clips. Is there any way to restrict the adjustment of the timeline video space to the little verticle bar designed for that purpose on the right end of the timeline?

Thanks.

Hey John.

I believe there isn't a way to prevent this except for making sure your timeline fits vertically in its window.
Best way in my opinion is using the Full Screen Timeline option in the Workspace - Dual Screen sub menu.

If that's not possible, make your tracks thinner, or use caution when vertically dragging selections.

Thanks Hector.

Well at least I know now that there isn't some menu somewhere that could deal with the problem. Best I can try to do, I think, is make sure that rather than circling the clips I try to drag the mouse horizonatlly if I can. No problem when I can do that.

If only three sreeens, then I might try the expanded timeline as you suggest. Right now I use my second screen for media, which I find very helpful. But all criticisms aside I really do like Resolve. FC now seems more and more part of the past.

One of many things I do love about Resolve is the ability to drop audio or video separately from a clip into the timeline. That so often comes in handy. Would be nice though if Resolve, like FC, indicated with a coloured bar if a clip had been used more than once in a timeline. But as I say, a great program - and it goes without saying, a great price!

Thanks again.
