Hello there,
I could get the dongle from resolve 11, but am working with the current resolve version - would the dongle still be working? And could I keep my actual projects? And could I update the dongle??
Help would be amazing!!!
Thank you, Heinrich

Yes, my dongle is also that old and still works. Compare that to Adobe's policy…

A dongle for Resolve 8 will work. All existing Resolve dongles work with Resolve 15 Studio.

ah, I see - thank you very much for your replies! But do I somehow have to "activate" the dongle, or do I just plug it in, open Resolve and that's it?
Thanks again in advance & best regards!

The dongle works with Resolve Studio software.

All you have to do is install Resolve Studio software, and make sure the dongle is connected before you launch Resolve.

Hello Dwaine,
thank you for your quick replys! One last question: I ll have to install the software that comes with the dongle, although I am already working with Davinci 15? I somehow fear I might loose my projects...
Best regards!

You need DaVinci Resolve Studio for the studio features. The software updates frequently and you should also consider when to do those updates amongst your project/job work. The updates are currently at no cost and have been since v8.

In every case, you should back up active projects and also the overall database. Please read this for details
viewtopic.php?f=21&t=71881

So, the version of Resolve that comes with your dongle is quickly out of date, but you can simply upgrade by backing up, downloading the new version and installing. Then update the backed up database to the new version so you dont loose your projects.

Hello Peter,
thank you for your reply!
Ok, so I backed up my project (export), and than tried to install the old version that came with the dongle (version 11) - that asked me to uninstall my current version (15) - which I did. Now version 11 is running, but I have no clue how to update that one to 15. From what I saw in some tutorials, I ll have to uninstall version 11 and than download version 15???
I am confused...Help would be amazing!
Best!

You don't need to install the old version. Just download the version you want to use from https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/support/family/davinci-resolve-and-fusion. Any Studio version will work with your dongle.

The Studio version doesn't run at all without a dongle. So as long as the splash screen says "Studio 15" and the program starts normally, everything is good to go.
