Group management on large projects - HELP

Hi

Grading a huge project and need some help from you experts :-)

I have
3000 plus clips in the edit timeline
25 locations
2 to 3 cameras
shots from each location are all over the place in the edit - i.e. I don't have the first 30 shots in the edit being in the same location - our project is like Memento in terms of cut logic :-(

So
I have grouped all the clips into about 25 groups (by location and day)
Within each group I have used Shared nodes for camera A, Camera B etc

At this stage - I care less about the edit (which I will come back to) and just care about grading the footage across the locations for the huge number of clips

So here are my 4 questions:

- can anyone point me to a great info website / video resource on advanced group workflow in resolve?
- is there a way in the color tab to only view all the clips from a single group? And ignore everything else? I spend bunches of time flipping around in light-box to check things...
- Is there a way to identify which clips on the edit timeline belong to no group?
- Is there a way to filter the clips on the color tab by various meta data (first 3 characters of clip name etc / or clip name contains xyz etc)

Huge thanks

This sounds like a situation where Remote grades, and C mode timeline sorting would make things a lot easier than using groups. Make sure you have Reel names set up to something useful

While I agree regarding Remote Grades and sorting, here are some of the answers:
- is there a way in the color tab to only view all the clips from a single group? And ignore everything else? I spend bunches of time flipping around in light-box to check things...
Yes, in the interface toolbar at the top of the Color page, make sure the Clips panel is enabled. When it is, it becomes a dropdown menu where you can filter on for instance a specific group.
- Is there a way to identify which clips on the edit timeline belong to no group?
Not on the Edit page as far as I know, because Color page grouping comes after the Edit page in the workflow. But you can on the Color page, see below.
- Is there a way to filter the clips on the color tab by various meta data (first 3 characters of clip name etc / or clip name contains xyz etc)
Yes, again in the Clips dropdown menu. "Create Smart Filter..."
