Resolve Overwriting Files

PostWed Jun 27, 2018 9:05 pm

I'm working with footage from a Sony FS7 that records to Two separate cards. The problem is sometimes a clip is spanned across two cards, which each have identical filenames. When I transcode this footage in resolve to proxies for editing in premiere, Resolve creates one file then overwrites it with the next file with the same name without asking me. Is this intentional? I'm in resolve 15 Beta.

I know I can use the separate folders or unique filenames as a work around but I still think it's strange resolve doesn't ask me before overwriting a file.

For this very reason, when I create proxies, every camera card gets its own timeline and its own directory for the entire duration of the project.

I don’t think of it as a technical limitation—it’s just a best practice for project organization.
