Audio Export Bug on AAC

Hello
It seems that there is a bug on the audio export DR15b3

System Windows 10
Da Vinci 15.3
Timline 5.1 audio

No matter which export format i choose (quicktime, mp4) and which video codec (DNX, h264) if the audio is set to AAC it creates a strange mix where most of the signal is routet to channel 1. When exporting quicktime and changing audio to pcm everything works fine.

Was it working before Windows update 1803?

Hi,

I'm on Resolve 17.2 and also experiencing the same problem. 5.1 audio has a wrong track-mapping on AAC delivery. The PCM delivery works fine, though.

Bug or not?

Regards
Alex

OK, done more research ... it is a Bug!

Delivery 5.1 PCM from resolve gives perfect result

Delivery 5.1 AAC from resolve gives jumbled up channel mapping

Putting the perfect 5.1 PCM from Resolve into Apples Compressor and making an AAC of it gives ... a perfect result!

Conclusion ... resolve has an 5.1 AAC issue!

LPCM = Left, Right, Centre, LFE, Left Surround, Right Surround

AAC = Centre, Left, Right, Left Surround, Right Surround, LFE

Yes, absolutely correct ... but ... if you reimport the delivered AAC file into a 5.1 track, you will see that the channels are mixed up and not at all in the supposed order.

Since Resolve does not provide AAC channel order for Timeline Tracks, is channel order in the deliverable confirmed as incorrect via a QC tool such as Baton?

Since I don't have Baton, I cannot answer this ... all I know is that the Quicktime Player gives the same jumbled result when playing the AAC delivery from Resolve. It gives correct results when playing the Resolve PCM delivery or a FinalCut AAC delivery.

Which settings are configured on the deliver page or is a Quick Export preset selected?

Are you able to share an example export with the above settings (even if lineup tone or BLITS)?

I can upload setting-screenshots to the board, but it won't let me upload .mov files .., means I have those BLITS files, but can't upload them here??

You need to upload large files to a service like Google Drive, Dropbox etc. and post the link here.

Looks like it is fixed wit the latest update.

• Addressed an issue with missing iXML data when exporting audio AAFs.
• Addressed an issue with incorrect channel mapping for 5.1 AAC renders.
