Media Linking in Resolve 14

Hi All,

Currently the AE on a documentary, and I'm in the process of trying to relink the proxy media to the hi-res media in Resolve 14(from FCPX).

My current workflow is this:

1. Import transcoded footage into Resolve
2. Import FCPX XMLs into Resolve
3. Flatten all of the multicam shots
4. Export an XML out of Resolve
5. Start a new project
6. Import the Resolve XML
6a. On settings for import choose 'ignore file extension'
6b. It prompts me for file source location. I point it to my hi-res media folder that doesn't contain my proxies.

This will link most of my media to the hi-res original files, however it doesn't link all of it.

From here I:

1. In a new bin, import all of my hi-res footage
2. Manually have to go though, check TC's and 'conform lock with media pool clip'.

I have tried several different suggested methods, and while time consuming, this has worked the best. I'm just wondering if anybody knows of any other workflow? I don't understand why it would link some media but not all of it, despite the fact that file names have not been changed. It seems like this should be rather intuitive, which it is not. Maybe its just because I'm new to using Resolve? Any input would be appreciated.

What kind of files are they? Do all of them have proper TC and reel/tape names?

My best experience for re-conforming was usually importing all the clips first and then importing the XML with automatic import of the files off.

There are several different file types, and they do have proper TC, reel, and tape names.

Ultimately thats what I have been doing, but since I can't flatten in FCPX, I have had to Flatten in Resolve then export/import into a new project/timeline.

Yes, multicam and round-tripping between any two NLEs is still a mine field.
