When I loaded up Resolve 14, I opened a project, it was a Roblox video I made. I wanted to do further editing and make it a bit better, so I added text. I did what you would do for text making, and then I played the video... the result was not my favorite. It made the video black and text didn't show up, when the text session was over, it played the video again, audio worked fine, video didn't. Please help i am just a noob at Resolve 14.

Let's start by telling us about your machine and the footage you are using.

Ok, My PC is Windows 10, my RAM is 8.00, system type is 64 bit, prosessor is Intel Core I5 7200U CPU, 2.50 and 2.70 Ghz. oh and footage is MP4

Your RAM is on the lower side, but most important is the GPU. You didn't tell us which graphics processor you have, with how much VRAM and Resolve relies heavily on that.

My VRAM is 128 mb. The GPU Memory is 4182 mb.

MP4 material is often problematic for post. My advice would be to convert it to a format with less overhead, like DNxHD or DNxHR, and it will most likely work better.

8GB of RAM is woefully small for Resolve.

GPU RAM is VRAM (video RAM). So, what is it: 128 or 4182?
Can you find out which type of GPU you have? I'm pretty sure it's the culprit.

128 MB VRAM is far too low. Please check the config guide from Blackmagic.

Oh, that sucks. Is there anything in the Config guide to help me solve this issue?

Yes, they tell you which hardware you need to acquire.
Please understand that the program may be free, the computer is not, quite to the contrary.

OK, Nevermind, I have not looked in the Config guide and I had found out how not for it to make a black screen, I needed to select "ADD" in text settings. Thank you guys so much for the help!

Hello, Jaz?
Are you aware you have piqued our curiosity regarding your stated specifications for your graphics processor?

VRAM ("video" RAM or "display" RAM or "graphics RAM)... and GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) RAM are all synonymous -- they are all generally understood to mean the same thing.

If you provide the name (make and model) of the graphics processor (or alternatively, the make and model # of your PC, if not custom built), we can resolve that tension between the stated 128 MegaBytes (that's likely *not* your GPU/VRAM amount), vs. the stated 4,182 (whatever *that* number actually means).

To put an end to scratching one's head -- some of us would *love* the opportunity to clear up/clarify that seeming discrepancy, Sir.

Cheers!

It's quite common on integrated CPU/GPU:s that the GPU has a small amount of dedicated VRAM (like 128 MB) and uses shared system RAM as well. The 4182 MB is probably what the OS reported as the amount of shared memory the GPU was using at the time.
