Someone knows if Cintel scanner is ready to scanning in "HDR" High Dynamic Range?

Check out the BMD web page for Cintel Scanner 2
"Real time film scanner for transferring 35mm and 16mm film at up to 30 frames per second via Thunderbolt 3 or PCIe at full Ultra HD resolution and even HDR. Includes DaVinci Resolve Studio Software."

Hi,
although the HDR skid plates are shipping that will support this feature, the feature itself won't be unlocked until Cintel 3.0. Cintel 3.0 is about ready for private beta, so you can contact your local support representative and they can help to get you onto that if desired.

Once you capture the whole latitude of your neg, there is nothing more to capture.
The rest is math

Correct, but given limited bit depths and sensor characteristics, using the high exposure to explode the blacks does recover up to 2 more stops of range that would otherwise be lost by digitization. Vision 3 negative film has up to 21 stops of range, there is nothing digital currently in the world that can come close to that, so multiple exposures are required. At the end of the recombination, you effectively end up with more bit depth (i.e. 12 bits becomes 14 bits).

Hi James,
Our company has a Cintel 1 scanner. I have been trading emails with BM tech support in regards to whether the Cintel 2.2 release enables HDR 2 pass mode. The support rep I have been communicating with is telling me that the Cintel 2.2 release does enable HDR 2 pass. I have looked all through the capture interface and cannot find the HDR 2 pass toggle. Can you confirm whether HDR 2 pass mode is working in the Cintel 2.2 release?
Based upon your post from this thread you mention that HDR 2 pass will be enabled in Cintel release 3.0.
You mention contacting our rep to get into Cintel 3.0 beta. I would like to apply for the Cintel 3.0 Beta but I do not know who my BM rep would be.
Thanks.

Hi Eric,
For HDR 2 pass you will require 3.0 beta and a HDR compliant gate/s. It is not available in 2.2 release. Your BM Tech support rep will be able to help with the beta release under NDA.
Regards
Gavin

Hi Gavin,
Thanks for the clarification.
How do I find out who my Blackmagic Design rep is?

Hi Eric,
I'm told somebody has contacted you and everything is proceeding?
Cheers

Hi James,
I was contacted by Adam Taylor from Blackmagic support, he sent me a NDA which I filled out and sent back to him. I sent the NDA 11 days ago and have not gotten any update.
Thanks.

Hi James,
Adam got back to me yesterday, he said no HDR gates are available to do the beta testing. He told me to check back in next week.
A bit of confusion on my part, based on the press conference @ NAB 2017 I thought Grant Petty mentioned you do not need the HDR gates to take advantage of the HDR option? Can we try the software without using the new gates or you only want to beta test Cintel 3.0 software with HDR gates?
Thanks.

You need the gates, I guess Adam has some in transit lined up he's thinking of.
