upgraded to 15beta: no titles, generators, openFx, AudioFX

PostMon Jul 23, 2018 8:42 am

hi,
i upgraded to 15beta, had 14 installed previously. I downloaded the 15beta version, double clicked the file and installed the sowtware. Macbook Air.

Problem: i don't see any titles! (nor generators, openFx, AudioFX)
But let's concentrate on the titles.
Isuppose there should be some default titles in Davinci right? So i downloaded some extra titles from ayaretv.com, copied them in the map fusion/templates/edit/titles, restarted my Macbook but... nothing!

What's going wrong?

A MacBook Air? I'm surprised Resolve started at all on that.

Sorry, but please check the configuration guide. Worst thing in that is the underpowered Intel GPU.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

With Davinci 14 never had problems (4K videos were difficult to playback, but i don't shoot in 4K, so no prob).
In version 15beta it seems i have no problems either loading and playbacking videos. There's just a problem with the titles not showing up. See screenshot what configuration guide says and my macbook's specs. Thanks

You have only 4 GB of system RAM, definitely not enough.

i understand my Macbook isn't the best possible hardware for DV ;-) but everything was fine under DV14. That's why i'm asking. I'm a small user, still learning DV. Once i'm getting more serious into this, i will buy more powerfull hardware, but it's a shame untill then there is functionality lacking, whereas in DV14 all was fine.

Another thing, when i installed the additional titles under fusion/templates/edit/titles, there was initially nothing there! empty folder titles! Shouldn't there be some pre-installed titles there? I mean, DV comes with titles right? Is this map supposed to be empty upon install?

Why not stay with 14 if it works? 15 is more demanding and if you check the config guides, even 14 challenges your machine. When you exceed the limits, Resolve is not always crashing, neither you’ll always get a message. Sometimes it just doesn’t work as expected.

i dont think that would be the reason why someone can't see a certain tool.

the first things i always hear are ''update windows'', or ''update decklink drivers'' or something similar (like this RAM thing, which is definately not much). while i understand those are the first things you can look into, it never solved any of my blackmagic-related problems. i think the software should at least run slow on older hardware, not ''buggier''. i have used alot of different software so far in the past 15/20 years, and im pretty sure blackmagic software (in this profession) is the most buggy so far, or at least for me. lots of crashes out of nothing, especially in the tabs where blackmagic has developed the most, like edit and fusion. and im not on a cheap system. not trying to be too negative.. i mean its still beta of course.

there was a huge difference in stability after the final release of 14 for me so i got high hopes for 15 too.

4GB of system RAM is not near our minimum req spec. If you can not get it to at least 8 and preferably 16GB then try v14 again to see if you have more luck.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Problem solved. I stick with 15, and yes my hardware is very minimal for 15, but it works. It works good enough for the small projects i do! Allthough some more complicated titles don't get rendered. But i can live with that.

Right on for the" Show Al" l because when you upgrade, Resolve 17 by default goes to Transitions only in the pull down!!! I just went thru the same damn thing!!!!! So glad I read this!!!
