DR15 won't work

Hi All

I have just installed the free version of DR15. When I try to playback a timeline clip the clip plays in viewer 2 and I hear the audio, but the viewer is black, no video is visible. When I double click on a clip in the media pool to view it on viewer 1 DR crashes everytime. I have tried this in one and two screen modes

Any advice gratefully received

Hi Peter

That was indeed helpful. The details are as follows

Davinci version is 15.0.08.065

I run Windows 10 version 1803 build 17134.165 with 32GB ram, three 3TB WD hdd and one 500GB OWC ssd with an i7 3.4GHz 4770. I have a Geforce GTX1060 6GB running driver version 398.36

The problem appears fairly soon, once I have loaded Davinci and open aproject I double click on a clip to see it in the viewer and the prgramme simply shuts itself down. This happens in single and dual screen modes and with old or new projects.

If I don't perform this step then the viewer remains black, I cannot see a timeline clip in either viewer though the audio is playing.

Hi Dave, Could you please update the nvidia driver to the latest available on their website and see if it helps?

I did try that, and the driver is the latest, it didn't make any difference

It's on the same support page like the full version, just use the one without "Studio" in the name.

OK so I have now installed DR14, but now i get a box that says local database incompatible, Incompatible (not upgradeable) database <15.0.0.045>, application requires <14.3.0.005>

Not sure what to do about this

Hi All

Is there any way to get either of these DR versions to work? I would prefer the version 15 but will do with 14, 15 just crashes almost immediately and did so when I updated to the latest build. 14 can't use the database that 15 made from my version 12 clips ... it is all turning into a mess

Honestly, if you cannot find an obvious hardware or software problem, I usually just try and install Windows again. Takes less effort then trying to figure it out sometimes ;)

From the looks of it your hardware is up to snuff, so.....

From other reports it seems that sometimes it's really difficult to clean Windows completely from older installations.

If you want to use version 14, just create a new database, since 14 can't use the 15 database you already have.
