Any way to get the sound directly below the vid?

PostFri Aug 03, 2018 11:39 pm

In Vegas I'm used to putting the sound tracks anywhere I want them and then locking them to the video. Is there a way to do this in 15b7?
(Win10)
I like to let a multi-camera setup sit in parallel and bring the appropriate camera up when I need to cut to it. But in Resolve adding extra video in parallel puts their sound grouped with the other sound in a track ever further from the video track.
as an example: (from top to bottom in edit mode)
Vid 3 video
Vid 2 video
Vid 1 video
Vid 1 sound
Vid 2 sound
Vid 3 sound
In Vegas I like to have (say)
Vid 3 video
Vid 3 sound (mono low quality - guide track)
Vid 3 high quality sound (stereo)
Vid 3 high quality sound (5.1)
Vid 2 video
Vid 2 sound (Low qualty)
Vid 2 sound (High quality)
etc

Resolve doesn't work that way.

Ahh, pity. Thankyou. Wish there was a searchable help function. Some simple tutorials would be nice too.

I have the reference manual PDF open in another window (on another screen) and simply search that when I'm trying to find something.

Yes, that helps but I never seem to get to where I want to be easily, using search in a pdf. Probably just me!

Bill,

I'm coming over from Vegas as well and have found the Alexis Van Hurkman tutorials over at Ripple Training invaluable. I even bought the older version ones which are still applicable. He has a gift for explaining the program in easy to understand, non-boring ways.

On a side note: Even though Vegas still does some things better, the pace at which the Resolve team is improving the program won me over especially when you consider the lack of real development in Vegas for many years. That and the fact that many things Resolve does blows Vegas out of the water.

It's a hobby right now. A no budget hobby! Yes, I got tired of the Vegas guys coming out with a new version which made no improvements to sound.
I REALY would love to have native support for Ambisonics.
Imagine being able to drop A format (or perhaps even better - B format) on the timeline and choose the output you want - 5.1, 7.1, whatever.whatever etc. Perhaps with the current interest in surround video will come support for Ambisonics?
I can dream!

I found this book invaluable when switching from Premiere Pro.

Once that's done, read the following.

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
