Repeat/copy nodes and apply different parameters

PostTue Aug 07, 2018 10:29 am

Hi,

I am trying to figure out a way how to build kind of an equalizer animation in Resolve 15 without manually creating all of the bars for the equalizer.

I would need to animate like 20-30 bars, each of the bars would be delayed by a small amount of time and each of these will have a different height.

Like on this gif:

I can do all of these manually, I can draw a background, mask with a rectangle, animate it and done, but I could not figure out how to multiply/copy these and somehow automate this.

Do you have some idea about it?

Thanks

Sounds like a job for Fusion:

I have seen that already but in that he is creating all manually, 3D and synced to music.

However it would be OK for me to use Fusion if I can achieve what I want, automatically multiply objects and use animation for some parameters of the replicas.

I made some really small progress using fusion.

Basically I have one rectangle with the background masked. I added a duplicate so it works. The bars are actually higher, but I masked the lower third of the screen so they can come up from the middle of the screen.

So I want each bar to come up and stay there, but each bar should have a different height based on a function or something, like a wave form.

I am thinking to animate the Center Y parameter of the Duplicate node, but somehow if I change Y it will just be like this:

Actually it is close what I want but I don't want it to be this linear, would be good if the Y position would be some random of each bar when they come up from the bottom.

Probably this topic should be moved to Fusion.

I could add some randomization with the Jitter option:

But if I add more bars:

It will all go a little bit up on the right side.

Is it possible to set the Y position using a curve?

I draw a red line on this to show how I want to set the Y coordinate to match that curve:

Is it possible?
