BlackMagic version 15 won't load.

Hello everyone,

I was using resolve version 15 perfectly up until yesterday when I installed a gfx1050i graphics card.

Now it simply won't open. It shows the program running in task manager but no inteface, I am guessing its still trying to use the old graphics card but everything else is working fine.

I removed the new gpu and it worked perfectly. Reinstalled it and back to the same problem.

I have an i7 6700 cpu
16gb ram
gtx1050i gpu
windows 10 64 bit

I reinstalled resolve and downloaded the latest version but no luck.

Also have the latest driver for the gpu.

Any help at all would be fantastic.

I need this sorted soon......

Please specify the GPU driver. “Latest” isn’t enough to work on

I have the windows msinfo.nfo file uploaded to the link now also.

I downloaded and installed Resolve version 15.0b8.

Still the same and no interface loading. Again I took out the gpu and it works immediately with the onboard graphics.

Once the gpu was reinstalled it stopped working again.

I really appreciate any help ye can provide with this, I am using the free version but looking to upgrade soon to the studio version.

If I can't get this fixed then I will sadly need to look elsewhere :-(

I understand this is my issue but its only effecting resolve for some reason. Today I had a local engineer check out the pc and it's working perfectly according to him.

Do you have any onboard graphics? If yes, could you disable from BIOS.

Hello Rohit,

I have tried that and it made no difference.

In my bios settings there is the option to have

1.- Auto switching
2.- Onboard graphics
3.- PCIE graphics.

The original setting was on "auto" so I selected PCIE graphics only and save settings and rebooted the machine.

They appear to be the only graphics options available.

Still exactly the same problem when on PCIE only.

Any idea what could be the problem?

This has been a problem for a week now and it's only happening with Resolve.

Is there better support with the full paid version as I was about to upgrade anyway.

Hi,

What is your motherboard? manufacturer? in which slot did you place the GPU? Other PCIE devices?

The monitor is connected to the GTX? How much monitor?

I am having the same exact issue. I open the program and nothing..No splash screen No interface.
It shows the program running in task manager but that is it.
v15 worked when I first installed it but yesterday it stopped.
All the beta clients I have used worked perfectly.
I uninstalled and reinstalled, nothing changed.

I am on a Dell XPS 15 with a 1050 card/16gb ram i7

Anyone else find a solution?

Thanks for the reply. The mb is an asus H110-r no other PCIE devices and its in the only PCIE slot.

Only one 28" 4k Benq monitor connected to the gpu (Gtx 1050i).

Everything else works perfectly except for Resolve.

Pc has been checked out and is fine by all accounts.

Have you tried killing the process resolve.exe (end process tree)

Hello Kieranhayes,

Since the motherboard only has a PCIE 16x slot: there is nothing to look for on this side.

If you're sure your PSU is able to power your PC:
So =>
Try to reinstall the NVIDIA driver but you choose the option "Nvidia driver (only)" (avoid Geforce experience) and then you click "Accept and continue"
Then: Custom (advanced)
Then: "Perform a new installation" and OK GO
Next : At end : restart your PC.
If it does not work after that ... I do not know. :oops:

Hi John,
Your the same as me so then, even though mine only started to give trouble after installing the new gpu.

Hope there is a solution for this otherwise, I will be moving to another platform soon sadly.

Just glad I didn't buy the full package.

Thanks tried that and no luck.

Once I uninstall the graphics card and use the onboard graphics it works perfectly.

I also installed a new psu which has loads of spare power. The gpu is working perfectly on everything else though.

I will try reinstalling the drivers as you described.

I can only say I am so glad I didn't purchase the full system yet.

Sorry but this is just taking too long, with no answers and no support.

This is probably the true reason why resolve software isn't ranked anywhere.


I am a professional photographer and I know if I ran my business with this level of support I would be gone in months.

I am out.

Uninstalling resolve and will stick with Adobe now.

Hi Kieran,

Are you able to update to the 15.0 release version from our website, and run it and post new logs. The logs were from beta build 46, and that's quite old.

Hi, I am still unable to run Resolve v15 release version (all beta versions functioned normally).
I am on a Dell XPS 15 with a 1050 card/16gb ram i7. (latest version of Windows 10)

When I start the program, nothing happens.
I double click to run the program:
No splash screen, No interface.
It only shows the Da vinci resolve running in the task manager but that is it.

All the beta clients I have used worked perfectly.
I uninstalled and reinstalled, the last beta version, Beta 8? but that no longer opens.

I had zero issues until I installed the release version 15. All other versions (v14 and all v15 betas) worked without issue.

Anyone ideas on what I can try to fix this problem?

I am using Resolve File Version 15.0.0.86 and Product Version 15.0.0.86

The problem:
After Uninstalling Resolve 15.0b8 beta version I installed the release version listed above.

I launched Resolve application saw the splash screen for a few seconds. Splash screen disappeared and application did not launch.
Da Vinci Resolve appeared in the Task Manager. After waiting for 5 minutes I "end task" in the task manager.
I tried to launch the application again and I did not see anything, No splash Screen, nothing. But again it showed up as "da vinci resolve" in the task manager.
Again I waited a few minutes but nothing happened. I "end Task'

I uninstalled Resolve v15.0.0.86 and Resolve Panels.
I re installed Resolve v15.0.0.86
I launched the app with the same result. No splash screen, only see it listed in the task manager.

I uninstalled again.
I installed the previous beta build I had, 15.0b8 Beta.
I launched the app with the same result. No splash screen, only see it listed in the task manager.

I uninstalled Resolve v15.0b8 Beta and Resolve Panels.
I re installed Resolve v15.0.0.86 and Resolve Panels
I launched the app with the same result. No splash screen, only see it listed in the task manager.

That doesn't make sense. I've been using Resolve 14 and than 15 beta on this same PC for over a year now.
Going through the certification training.

I installed the release version of 15 and now nothing works. Is this something brand new to the release version of 15?

I have the exact same error and problem. Geforce GT1030 in my case

Worked OK with old on-board Intel graphics, but now won't run after the same crash you describe

It's very important where you connected the monitor. If you want to use QuickSync 1 connection (DVI) of your monitor has to be on the onboard graphic, and the HDMI on your NVidea GPU. iGPU must be disabled.
This is what they found in the german Videoforum (http://www.videotreffpunkt.com/)

I have discovered that if you use Windows 8 compatibility settings, this will allow version 15 to work on Windows 10 Pro and my 1030 card.

I am a new user of Resolve had been having a similar issue with Resolve 16, where it would come up briefly before disappearing, but would still show as running in the Task Manager. I am using Windows 10 Pro on an Alienware R13 laptop. The laptop has an Intel 630 on-board graphics card but it also has an Nvidia GTX1060 video card.

The driver for the Nvidia card was current, but I hadn't bothered to check the driver for the on-board card, as I didn’t expect Resolve to use that card.

However, I have “auto-select” set as the global parameter for video card choice in the Nvidia control panel, and I believe that Resolve may have been starting with the Intel card before switching over to Nvidia. Once I updated the drivers for the on-board card, Resolve was able to successfully switch over to the Nvidia card. Anyway, Resolve no longer disappears and shows up as using Nvidia.
