Full Screen UHD Output from Laptop

PostWed Aug 15, 2018 5:51 pm

I dream of using a separate monitor, full screen UHD output from Resolve. But I don't have a PCIe port on my laptop for a DeckLink device.

Am I out of luck?

For reference, I've got a GTX 970M, so HDMI plus USB 3.0...

Any productive and constructive advice is appreciated - thanks!

Resolve doesn't have 2nd full screen GUI preview.
If you can't use any BM card then you are out of luck.

It's unlikely that your laptop going to handle well 4K sources/timeline anyway.

Thanks for the response, Andrew. Will have to settle for HD preview and review full resolution in the render. An unfortunate concession of a laptop. Though my machine has handled 4K in every other capacity beautifully.

I purchased a Sonnet external PCIe box and a BlackMagic 4K Intensity Pro card to use with my MacBookPro. It drives the external 4K screen. Unfortunately for my complex timelines, it won’t play without some stuttering, but probably would for less complex grades. I am able to use it with my iMac Pro and it plays back in real-time.
