Generate Solid - Can't get pure White

I'm having a tough time generating a plain white solid to throw underneath footage for the purpose of fading to white. For the life of me I can't figure out why my white solid looks gray

I thought it might be a node that was doing it, but I started a completely fresh project and imported a white image made in illustrator to compare against a generated white solid (see attached image)

Is it a color space or color management setting I have that is affecting the solid?

Feel like such a n00b, thanks for any advice!

Can you click on the color picker box and get a screenshot of the settings for the color.

Here is after I selected "FFFFFF"

interesting phenomenon here: if I selected the eyedropper and click the solid in the timeline viewer, it results in a gray. If I continuously do this (color pick the solid in the viewer) it keeps getting darker and greener (see image)

Just to let you know, I repeated the same thing, and yes, mine comes out white as expected, so I guess we might be able to rule out a bug.

Good luck with finding a solution. Just to narrow down what the issue might be, have you tried other colours, black, pure red, green, and checked their RGB codes as per the suggestion above?

Exactly, I wonder if the Luminance mapping is set incorrectly.

I've been working in a RED IPP2 workflow with the attached settings. I actually just noticed when I switch around the Color Science back to DaVinci YRGB or to ACES it turns to pure white. Seems to be Timeline to Output Gamut Mapping, specifically the Highlight Roll Off. I get pure white if I set that to 'None'

Is that behavior expected? I'm inexperienced as a colorist but would love a layman's explanation if it's something super simple

Since you are using Rec.709 SDR as the output color space the question is why would you want to use "Timeline to Output Tone Mapping"?

Honestly I'm still learning, combing through the manual and reading Alexis Van Hurkman's handbook. So the main reason I have those settings is because Peter recommended them here:

I think keeping everything in regular Rec709 is a very wise choice for 99% of most users. I think the risk of using other color spaces is the risk of getting things screwed up... especially test patterns.
