resolve 14.3.1 not executing on MAC PRO after High Sierra

PostFri Aug 17, 2018 6:25 am

Hi

My machine

Mac Pro 5,1 running the latest version of High Sierra
Nvidia Quadro 4000 GPU (cuda 2 compliant)
Nvidia Gforce GTX 120 video card
(latest Nvidia driver and cuda all supported)
Deck Link extreme 3d I/o latest driver all up to date with blackmagic
Tangent Wave control surface with V1.2 firmware
32 gig ram
8tb raid
FSI monitor
Decklink SDI-HDMI converter
Panasonic Plasma client monitor
Ultrascopes

I was running OSX Mountain Lion, and all was fine for years. Then I had to use Premier 2018 edition and went to High Sierra, absolute nightmare. Had to replace GPU (from FX4800 cuda 1.3) USB3 PCIe Adaptor (from Cal Digit) - not supported under HS and/or by manufacturer anymore. Anyhow this should work, bog standard set up, been over these blogs and other looking for the answer, so I'm reaching out.

In either 14.5 or 12.5 Resolve the software will not load, quits after "looking for control surface'

Any ideas, has anybody had this problem.
Any clues or directions warmly received

cheers

Paul

Please remove the GT120 to start. Then see what happens.

Hi Peter

I have not heard back from anybody at blackmagic about my issue.

I have changed my slot 1 GPU to a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 3072 MB compute 3 CUDA from a Quadro 4000 card

and my slot 2 display card to a Quadro 4000 card

I am running web driver 387.10.10.10.40.105 and CUDA driver 396.148

I have a MAC PRO 5.1

I am attempting to run DR12 only

I us a deck link extreme 3d driver up to date

I run High Sierra 10.13.6

The DR log shows I am not getting CUDA

And my DR 12 application launch will not get past "looking for control surface'

attached is my log file from most recent launch failure

Can some one help me out at BMD? The machine is been out for two weeks now, you guys have my machine specs......and this latest log.

Can you let me know if I have a hardware conflict or another issue I can't see?

any support would be appreciated.

So I was told by local trusted supplier (Digistor) that under High Sierra GPU's need to compute 3, not 2 as outlined in the BMD set up for DR12 that's frustrating.
Anyhow spend more money on a legacy GTX 780 (compute 3.5) so this should work right? .... wrong.

New Magic (local agents for BMD) suggested I was'nt using the studio version.....err no

Any how just about to give up, but for old time's sake asked the Nvidia Web Driver to update....and it did, from .....105 to .....108

downloaded DR15 and it launched, go figure, I think my legacy machine fell into a hole here with High Sierra. Anyhow DR15 was still only using open cl, so I enabled Cuda in prefs, still no cuda in log file. Had to manually select GTX 780 (even though I have ditched my GUI card) and now DR15 is using CUDA.

Don't upgrade your OS if you can help it.
