Think you forgot to mention spec of your recordings!

Can you display an image of: Black Magic Disc Speed test of your drive?

I don’t think this message has anything to do with the speed of any drives that are technically capable of working flawlessly. While rendering my latest performance video (over an hour long) several times in the last week, I’ve had probably 20 messages of waiting for frames.

I’m rendering HEVC 10bit HD from ProRes 444 XQ to the internal flash storage on an iMac 27” late 2015 32GB RAM, 4GB AMD R9 M394X GPU. I’m rendering from Media on a Pegasus2 6-bay RAID 10. I’m using a fair number of adjustments related to primary colour and colour space. No noise reduction. I have found if I try and do any other work on the computer when it’s rendering, I may get that message. But it’s all tied to temperature boundaries being hit. Not speed of any devices.

I render at 2 fps and my internal computer temperature stays just below 100 degrees Celsius with ambient air temperatures in the mid to high 20s during this time. Doing anything outside of Resolve puts my temperature over 100 degrees and the computer does a controlled shutdown to cool off. Usually that’s not an issue when it comes back to life but sometimes I find those messages waiting to greet me. I’m confident in a month when ambient temperatures are cooler here, I won’t see those messages as I render a wedding video.

When DaVinci has a problem with some video in the queue, why does not DaVinci skip it and does not continue to render another video?

Is it a bad idea?

What is the source resolution and format?
Timeline resolution and frame rate?
What if you use HD DPX for source and render?

Source resolutions and formats:
- SD or HD
- ProRes 422 or ProRes 422 HQ

Timeline resolutions and framerate:
- always the same like source
- 23.976, 24 or 25 fps

I never use DPX.
