Timeline Color Space and Viewer Bug

PostThu Aug 23, 2018 2:07 pm

Hi,

From what I gather timeline colour space is meant to help map your tools so they behave in a certain way… so if you have it as LogC your tools will feel more like a log grading tool.

However, on both v14 and v15, I noticed something very strange. If I work in Davinci YRGB (non colour managed) and switch the timeline colour space from LogC to DCI or R709 or vice versa, the picture in timeline viewer in the GUI changes whereas my video output remains the same. In this scenario bear in mind that there are no colour corrections done on any clip.

This occurs ONLY if the 'Use Mac Display Color Profiles for Viewers' option is enabled in hardware configuration.

So there is some kind of strange interaction between the timeline colour space (which according to the manual should only affect your grading tools) and your viewer/display profiles.

Thanks,

Cem
