Is this possible?

I've filled up one of my drives (D:) with optimized media from a project that i cant quite remove yet, im still working on it.
However, i have to get started with a new project right now, and im wondering if its possible to optimize all of its media to another one of my drives (E:) ?

Will resolve find the optimized media files on (D:) when i open up the first project again, and vice versa?

Appreciate your time, thanks!

Asus rog G751, win 10, resolve 15

Not really. You should probably look at using a proxy workflow instead.

Yea, i dont have that much space :/ Its about 500gb of media. And i have a little less than 500gb of free space.
Turning everything into dnx proxies would be huge i think. But optimizing into quarter res, dnx SQ usually only takes up around 200-300 gb or so

You could also make the proxies in quarter res DNxHD SQ or something even smaller.

Or buy some hard drives. Storage is as cheap as it has ever been.

Hm true, i just always assumed the optimized files were made smaller, i guess. But why is that then? Why would one even choose to optimize files instead of making proxies.

I mean, i would loose the ability to uncheck the "use optimized media" i think, which is really handy, and also kinda needed for checking focus and when coloring.. Are there ways to quickly re link to the originals and back with the proxy workflow as well?

Btw, I appreciate the help, sorry for more questions, heh.

Yes, works with proxies too. One way is to generate your own proxies under the same name into one folder (with subfolders, if needed) and load the originals before rendering from their folder.

There are other approaches described in the manual.
