Resolve not starting - Windows

PostTue Aug 28, 2018 11:49 am

Hello,

I've been using in the past Resolve v14.3 on a side machine for basic Editing in HD.
Resolve was working ok, but slow (normal).
Specs are :
i3-7100 @ 3.9 Ghz
8 GB RAM
Windows 10 1803 (Build 17314.228)
Integrated GPU
Free version of Resolve

Two days ago, I installed a GTX 1060 in this PC. All SW are working well, but Resolve : When launching, the resolve process starts, then stall (0% CPU in process list). Nothing appears on the screen.
nVidia driver was 398.82 and I updated yesterday to 399.07, no change of behavior.

It probably has Something to do with the addition of the GPU.
In the BIOS, I tried to select PCIE GPU instead of integrated. But that made no difference.

Tried to uninstall Resolve, install resolve 15 free, install resolve studio 15... No effet, Always the same problem.

Tried to install / run as administrator -> No effect

Last ResolveDebug.txt is as follows

Re: Resolve not starting - Windows

For your information, and if it can be useful for others, I managed to get Resolve 15 running on this PC.

First, starting the utility GPU-Z, I noticed that the OpenCL capability was not checked for the GTX 1060, which was not normal.

I modified the BIOS setting for the GPU on my ASUS motherboard :
- Back to Automatic for the GPU choice
- Enabled the handling on multiple GPUs

As a result, both GPUs (internal and external) are displayed by the system and GPU-Z
And this time, GPU-Z shows OpenCL as enabled for the GTX 1060.

This time, Resolve started working the first time I launched it !

Hope this can help some...

Best Regards

David
