Resolve 14.3 and High Sierra - AUTOSAVE doesn't work

I have an AUTOSAVE issue:
after enabling it every, say, 10 minutes, the saving process last only few seconds, compared to when manually saving the same (BIG) project and it takes 1 minute. After noticing it few months ago I started periodically backing up on another drive all the database and then tested the AUTOSAVE on another smaller project: first manually saving and then enabling the autosave, and discovered it was doing the same and not saving at all. When I closed and reopened the last autosaved version from the project manager, all the changes were from the last time I manually saved.
Same happens when simply saving with CMD+S: it doesn't save. That's why the only solution I found is doing SAVE AS... as a new project everytime. Eventually filling up the project manager window with many incremental versions of the same project.
