Making video look like a silhouette

Hi, I am struggling to find this answer in searches, probably because I am very new to this and don't know the correct terminology.
I have a video consisting of multiple clips. I've figured out how to change the coloring by using the wheels in the color tab (though it only seems to work on each clip, not apply it to the entire video). However, it isn't doing what I hoped it would do. I would like to change the video from full color, to something that would make the images appear more as vague silhouettes in shades of black, grey and red. I'm poking around in the color tab, but not finding anything that appears to have that effect.
Thanks for any help!

I don't know, if it works in the free version.
Grading the timeline:

- choose "timeline" instead of "clip"
- Unbenannt.PNG (77.34 KiB) Viewed 4562 times
For changing the video. Just one idea:
1. node with qualifier on red, play with clean, blur, etc to get a good result.
2. parallel node: desaturate to zero (or near by)
3. maybe some other nodes after the parallel mixer for refining the result.

In the color tab, in the top right of the screen you should see something that says "clip". You can toggle this to be "timeline" and that will put the adjustments on the whole timeline.
Not exactly sure what you mean about silhouette effect. I think you would need to set up the shoot for that to work well. But it sounds like maybe you could try using the curve editor to desaturate blue and green channels leaving just red, and then mess with the curve to get shadows and highlights how you want.

Thanks for the tips, I will see what I can find.
But for the clip vs. timeline, I figured that out from the tutorials, but it isn't working the same for me. When I choose clip, it shows the clips. When I choose timeline, it doesn't show anything. (Images attached).

If I were you, I would right click the mouse on the empty ground and add a node like in the "clip" section. Connecting it, and grade like grading the clip...

Oh! That worked, thank you!
Now to figure out the silhouette thing... Clicking to turn everything monochrome helps. I just want less fine detail on everything.

Ok, this is close to what I was aiming for. I would have preferred something that showed the outlines for the most part, but this is pretty good. This is a really powerful (and intimidating) bit of software!
Thanks for all the help!

Would something like this work, using EdgeDetect?

Or get a plug-in like ToonIt.

That looks very cool, but for $200, I can't afford that...
Also, it's just for Adobe, according to the compatibility page.
Too bad, it's perfect for what I want to do.

Boris has a Cartoon Look filter too, that plugs into Resolve. I think they sell so-called 'units' instead of the whole bundle.
ToonIt works fine for me in Resolve, but I never tried on a PC.

Hi Jean Claude, that looks great! But I don't really know where to start to do that...
Adding Edge Detect is as far as I've been able to get.

I think I am getting there, but not quite the same effect. Here's what my screen looks like:

Not far from the finish.
See what I placed in link.
I advise you to read the manual: you will be more comfortable for the future.
