Corrupt project retrievable?

PostSun Sep 02, 2018 1:59 pm

Hi,

I just started working on a Resolve project. All was going well until I got a crash in the middle of an edit. I re-opened the program and soon experienced another crash. I am now unable to open the project as Resolve crashes instantly.

I am able to open another project in the same databases and other projects in other databases, so I'm fairly sure the issue is with the specific project. I've tried exporting and reimporting the project and the same with the whole database to no avail.

Is this project done for or is there any way I can realistically bring it back?

I have the same experience on Friday. DaVinci crashed and now crashes again and again immediately after opening.

I would like to use the last backup from the backup menu, but I found only a backup that is 12 hours old!
Is my backup setting wrong? (see figure, please) Why do not I have a backup that is 10 minutes old?

Can you help me to set my backup for 10 minutes old? Because I don't understand well what the manual tells.

No promises, but: launch the program and go to the Project Menu. From the Project Menu, right click (but do not open) the bad project, and choose Export, and export a .DRP of the project to another drive. Once that's done, import this project under a new revised name. Once it's imported, try to open it and see if everything is OK.

Sometimes, this "cleans up" any corrupted XML or color-correction information in the DRP and it will open and run OK. If not, I would contact BMD support and send them the DRP and see if they open up the project.

Hi all and thanks to those that replied. I had tried the export/re-import but it was to no avail.

I did also contact support and have sent them the corrupted project so they can take a look at it but
luckily this wasn't a project into which I'd invested a huge amount of time (had mainly just been going through media and sorting out subclips) so I ended up creating a fresh project and starting again in the meantime.

A lesson learned - Live Save and automated project backups are now switched on!
