Why did my video render fast forwarded?

My timeline framerate was 60fps and playback frame rate 24. Render settings were 1920x1080 HD and frame rate 60 (only option there was), format quicktime and codec h.264. When i play the vid on timeline it looks fine but after rendering its fast forwarded. ?

Look in the project settings for the timeline frame rate.
Thats the rate the timeline will render.

Clips on the timeline that are at that rate will not have speed changes.
Clips on the timeline at other rates will.

Normally the playback rate in project settings should match the timeline rate but you can set it to other rates for previewing.
