Flickering after rendering and while previewing

Hi,

I have a problem with DaVinci 15, the image flickers while playing in color grading tab, and stays the same when exported. This happens only when some color grading has been applied to image.

So far I tried fiddling with graphics card selection, but with no luck.

Device is HP Ency laptop, intergrated graphics, i7, 16gigs of RAM. The problem did not persist on DaVinci 14.

I have found topics stating that other people had similiar problems, most of them unresolved, or resolved mysteriously.

Anything? The problem still persists.

can you give us more to work on? codec, GPU - you say integrated - my bet is the GPU is under powered for Resolve.

if you can give us some more info you are more likely to get some possible answers

Not sure where BM acknowledged it or figured out what's the cause.

I came across a similar issue on Linux and found that disabling "Use optimized image transfers for viewers" in Configuration under Preferences resolved it for me.

Seeing the same Problem here as well on the Studio Version. The symptom is that Grading Nodes are randomly skipped in the Preview as well as when exporting. Went back to a 14 and the problem does not come up on the same machine.

For fun tested with the free version on the same machine and the problem did not come up and I was unable to reproduce. Installed Studio Version and it was there again after entering the Color Grading Page and click on any controls.

Tried 15.1 - same Problem but only in the Studio Version - back to 14. Hope that get's addressed in a future Update as I like to use some features of 15.

Mmm.... i have the dongle, and if it is not fully installed it will warn me about it.

This fixed the issue for me. Had no idea what to do. Also no idea why it works.

edit: This only sometimes seems to help. For my project I fiddled with render cache and deleting optimized media until it came out correctly.

Still happening with 16.1b3 on linux
Not happening with 16.0 or 16.1b3 versions on windows 10 64bit

Still happening for me and cannot work out how to stop it. It's putting me off buying the software because have not been able to finish a project yet without it happening

VERSION NUMBER:
DaVinci Resolve 16.1.1.005
Also happened on Davinci Resolve 16 too.

HARDWARE:
CPU: Intel i7-7700K
GPU: AMD RX5700
RAM: 32GB
OS: Windows 10 Pro 64 bit

PROBLEMS:
1. Text rendering has many horizontal black lines through it
2. Text flickers on and off under the following setups:
i) If soft glow added to text
ii) If a reveal rectangle is set in motion over text
iii) If a particle emitter is setup on text

I even just have static text, no expressions or animation and it's flickering like crazy. I'm having to ignore the Fusion page entirely. the integration just isn't usable yet. Is anyone from Blackmagic watching this thread?

I found a fix, at least for me.

I've been editing my work in Resolve in an SSD connecting to my laptop with USB 3.0 cable. Everything works fine until flickering occurring in color grading process and video preview. So I tried to copy the whole project into my PC hard drive and restart Resolve.

It worked!

So I assume USB 3.0 connection is not enough for Resolve workflow.

Do you guys stilll have thos flickering problems?
I have this since the last update (17.1.1) whenI have colour graded clips.
If I just restard Resolve and go directly in the export page I can have the flickering solved for about 5 minutes. but from that on it starts again. So What I am doing now is cutting the final file in subfiles of 5 minutes and recombining them later on, what is not practical at all.

I just experienced this problem for the first time in Studio 17.2 Build 11. Clips are color graded and also using adjustment clips and titles. This did not happen in 17.1 for me, and I didn't change any preferences between versions.

Restartin Resolve did fix it for me.
I am using Ubuntu.

I did this, and it asked to restart DaVinci in order for the change to take effect, so I'm not sure if that option or the restart by itself did the trick, but it works now.
