Export subtitles on their own

PostMon Sep 10, 2018 9:38 am

I tried the subtitling feature in Resolve 15 to make subtitles for my YouTube videos - since I find the on-line YouTube tool annoying and it is easier to do it in Resolve. It has work pretty well. I have already uploaded my finished file to YouTube, downloaded the automatically created title and loaded them to Resolve for exiting.

I cannot find a way to just export the subtitles - I have to export the whole clip with a subtitle sidecar just to get the file. This works and uploads to YouTube fine but takes time and creates a video file I do not need. I cannot see how to just export the subtitles after looking through the manual and Ripple Training videos. I assume you cannot just export the subtitles but have I missed something?

Have you tried the File > Export Subtitle menu?

Thanks, I had not seen that because I was looking in the deliver page, which is where the tutorials I had seen and the stuff I had seen in the manual said to export subtitles.

I have now also noticed that I can right click on the subtitle track and export the subtitles.

Using either of these though I do not get a file and Resolve locks up. Using Windows 10, Resolve 15.01.

We'll need more info David.
As a starting point: a log archive from viewtopic.php?f=21&t=71894 - and in case the hang is specific to your project, a project export (a drp file) from the Project Manager.

It would also help if you can give us a better description of your machine.

I have now tried this on two machines with the same result using the same project.

If export a file using the deliver page - I chose to just make an audio file and ticked the subtitle creation - Resolve makes an audio file and subtitle file.

If I use export subtitle from the file menu or timeline after exporting the file from the deliver page, it works. Do you need to have exported a file from the deliver page for the other options to work?

My two computers:

Computer 1 - Windows 10, 32GB RAM, nVidva 6GB 1060, Intel Kabylake i7.

Computer 2 - laptop - i7-6700HQ, 16GB RAM, 2GB nVidia 980M.
