Color Space from Photoshop exported files

Hiya,

I graded a few still images in Photoshop and put them in Davinci. What color profile should I work with to make sure that this works? I put in a file and noticed it looked a bit different than intended.
Normally in Photoshop I work in either Adobe RGB or ProPhoto color space.

Choose your preset under video and film and choose Rec. 709. This goes for after effects as well. And then in resolve you should be choosing that color space to work with

You can do what Dario says. Or if your Resolve project is using a wider color space than Rec. 709 like P3 for example, you can do that too. As long as color space the image is tagged with matches your input color space in Resolve you should be fine.

Agreed Igor. Nice addition. Always ask your client what color space are they working in or what is the final deliverable. (if you’re lucky you get the right answer.)

We work with a lot of 'stills for video' and prefer to grade them in DaVinci Rec.709 rather than Photoshop or Lightroom. Our cameras shoot various flavours of RAW so we always batch convert them first to 16bit Tiffs then bring them into Resolve's 4K video timeline where the 6-8K Tiff images offer excellent grading latitude plus a bit of re-positioning too.

That is a good idea. Sometimes I do changes that needs more painting and then Davinci is not so suitable. But I have done experiments with grading the whole thing in Davinci. The color tools in Photoshop are difficult to work with I think.

Hey,

I confess I usually "file > export for the web" in PS, which results in RGB graphics I can change after if needed. The intermediate panel in PS lets you choose quite a few options that can help too.

The Paint/Clone tools in Fusion DR15 are quite advanced.
