Feature Request: Hold Shift to Snag toggle

PostFri Sep 14, 2018 11:56 pm

Just want to toss out there again that I would love to see this feature in here.

In Premiere, (and also After Effects) when you are scrubbing the timeline with snapping off if you hold Shift it will temporarily toggle snap on so you can jump to an edit point, a marker, or any feature of interest.

I realize that the N hotkey for snapping has a bit of toggling behavior but it really is not scratching that itch and this is one of the biggest things I'm missing coming from Premiere as it is so baked into my muscle memory at this point.

Being able to hold a toggle that is instantly disengaged when you release it is really helpful and smooth when moving fast. Also, with the N toggle behavior it only work when moving a clip. I can't scrub the timeline and hit N to temporarily toggle the playhead to snap to edit points for example.

Give it a try in Premiere and see that there is something very simple but very helpful in the day to day navigation of the timeline that I find myself still missing.

I'm not saying to change anything about the way the N hotkey operates. Just allow Shift to be able to be a temporarily snap toggle as well. Currently it's doing nothing. And hey, if people don't like it, make it something that can be turned off.
