Workflow 4K 50p Footage in a 1080 25p Timeline

Hello DaVinci Gurus,

I just shot a Dancing Video with a high demand on framing - symmetry from the director.
We agreed to publish in 1920x1080 but shot in 3840 x 2160 for cropping in a little to achieve the desired symmetry framing - I shot this on the gh5 with the Ronin M. 50p because we wanted to have some room for timeremapping, if the dancers didn´t match a beat in sync.

So far so good - know I just can´t figure out how to get this on in DaVinci.
The other DP will make the rough cut in Final CutX. I thought that the XML workflow would work fine. Now I just made a workflowtest with premiere pro cc 2018 - I set up a 1920x1080 timeline 25p, edited a little bit- just for testing - and did the xml roundtrip.

No chance to get the timeline with the footage in DaVinci working.

So I thought that I could do the roughcut with the client already in DaVinci. When I made the new project - based on 1920x1080 - and the new timeline - based on this figures - I had gladly no issue in importing to that timeline - but I`m a bit worried about the "zoom" in the inspector of the clip - The clip ist not cropped - as I would expect with a 4k clip an a FullHD timeline - and the Zoom says 1 - so.
How good will the zoom in work? - will there be a scaling issue - or will it soom in based on the 4k? even if the whole framing of the 4k material is visible on the FullHD timeline?

Is there maybe / hopefully an option to import a FullHD 25p Timeline with 4k 50p materil form another editor? - would be the best option so that I can concentrate on the grading and finessing.

Thanks a lot,

br,

Felix

Go to Project Settings>Image Scaling>Input Scaling and set it to Scale Full Frame with Crop.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
