Resolve 15.1 - failure to launch

Updated this most excellent application 15.1 over 15.0. It begins to load then halts a few seconds later. The loading screen briefly appears, then vanishes. Version 15.0 ran fine. I've blown a day on this already with no solution.
Anybody else having this problem?
UPDATE:
Tsk, I should have included this information:
15.1 fails on all AMD gfx drivers, including the very latest (18.9.1). Version 15.0 has no problem with any AMD gfx driver (I tried three).
I have image backups of my system drive and can cleanly reinstall back to an older state. In fact when I get bad installs I always restore to a previous image... ALWAYS.
The install /update procedure claimed it was successful each time. Yes, I re-downloaded the 15.1 update and tested the archive.
I'm running the latest Win10 with 16gb of system RAM.
