How to Freeze Frame From Stabilized Clip

Hi,
I am trying to freeze a frame in the middle of a stabilized clip.
Here's what I'm doing... I cut before and after the frame I'd like to freeze, select it, and then choose freeze frame from the Clip menu. The clip is frozen; however, I lose stabilization so its position no longer matches the frames before or after.
Can anyone tell me the best way to freeze a frame from a stabilized clip?
Thanks!

I would grab a freeze as a Gallery Still, export the still, import that back into the edit timeline, and expand the length of the clip as long as you needed it to be. Then split the stabilized clip and make a match-frame right where you want to come out of the freeze.
There are more sophisticated ways to do this, but this will work. Another option would be to just export the entire stabilized clip, then use time remapping to freeze and unfreeze the new clip.

That's how *I* do it!

Thanks for the replies. I was able to use the gallery still method but it was a huge hassle.
The stabilized video clip I'm working with is also cropped and rotated. When exported as a still, the cropped portions become black instead of transparent so when importing back in you have to redo the crop. Unfortunately, since the the video was rotated the new crop doesn't line up.
If I was to use the second suggestion (exporting the whole stabilized clip) then I might as well go back to FCPX (which easily holds a frame) for editing.
If you have any other ideas, I'd love to hear them. I regularly need to freeze the frame mid-clip on a stabilized, cropped, and rotated video.
Much appreciated.
