Optimize Only Media In Sequence

PostWed Oct 03, 2018 9:01 pm

I'm using DVR 14.3.

Hoping to optimize only the portions of a clip that actually appear in a sequence. My project is a feature film shot on RED. There are about 1,700 clips used in the film. I was able to conform the sequence and discard any full resolution files that were not used. Now I want to optimize down to ProRes so I can do a smooth playback for the client.

Unfortunately, to optimize all source clips from end-to-end will take about 35 hours.

I attempted to Media Manage a consolidated version of the sequence with short handles but there are multiple errors when relinking source clips to the consolidated files.

Is there a way to optimize only the portion of the clips that appear in the sequence? Sort of a hybrid between optimizing and consolidating?

Thanks.

This is what the cache is for.

Enable the user cache, select all the clips in your timeline, and just cache the source.
