Can't select audio and video at the same time on timeline

Both the audio and video are linked but still when I click on any of those then instead of both getting selected, only the clicked one gets selected. Means, if I click on video then only the video gets selected on timeline instead of both video and audio together (and vice-versa).

I am using latest DR version on Windows 10 (version 1809).

Make sure you click on the "link/ unlink" button. (Looks like a chain link)

Audio and video are not from different source. These are video clips shot from mobile and directly dropped on timeline. I am also attaching two images below to show you.



In the image above you can see that the audio and video are linked.



In this image, you can see that even if the audio and video are linked but still only one thing gets selected. Moreover, if I try to move the clip to the right then the only video is getting moved and not the audio with it.

Then how to fix this. I do not want to constantly keep selecting audio and video separately. Is there a way to properly LINK these like any other clip? So that when I drag a video then audio will also follow it properly.

I think you are taking it as the video started first and audio started afterwards. Actually, I was showing you those out of sync, so that you can understand what happens when I try to drag them on timeline. Instead of both getting selected, only one gets selected and I can only drag that back and forth.

The ideal case should be that both should get selected and I should be able to drag both. Moreover, there is no option for bitrate setting in my mobile and I was making videos priorly for months with no such issues.

Yes, of course, I have taken Byrons advice. I have also posted an image above that the video and audio are linked. And I have also unlinked and again linked them back to test things out. But they still act separately when I select them.

You're missing the point. You can link/unlink specific clips and you can use a different function that enables/disables all the links you have.

The Linked Selection (the chain links) decides whether all links are active or not.

That's the first thing that came to mind. I'm constantly going back and forth with linking and unlinking and forgetting to click on that little chain link button. Multiple levels of undo is a godsend.

I usually keep it checked and use the Alt key instead when I want to select something separately.

Ah, that link/unlink. Sorry, but I totally forgot about it. Actually, I never used it and because of that, I wasn't able to understand the issue. Thanks a lot to everyone who tried to help me and gave your time to resolve my issue.
