how can i start a project with a square canvas for e.g. making square instagram movies. thanks

You can go to the Resolve Project Settings > Master Settings > Timeline Resolution, and set it to 1080*1080

correct size for IG is 2000 X 2000 pixel and 1080 X 1920 for stories

Thanks. I did. So the video gets displayed as a square in the timeline. All good. But when exporting, it still renders 16:9, even when 1080x1080 settings are displayed in the render settings. Which isn't exactly a big issue, cause i can crop it it instagram, but is there a way to render it as a square?

That's strange. Using the same settings I'm exporting square projects on my workstation.
Can you reproduce this problem on another project ?
What's your render format/codec ?

strange, couldn't reproduce it. It works now
