bug -- compoud audio clip disables video??

When I place a compound audio clip in my sequence, it disables the video and I get a black screen. This happens consistently and all throughout my sequence. When I place a compound audio clip for a lower third in my sequence, the video goes black and it only stays black for the duration of the compound audio clip
