Recording stereo - not dual mono

I have a VSTi set up and working with Kontakt in the fairlight page, and both the instrument track and the record trackare set to stereo, but the sound being recorded is dual mono. Resolve see's the dual mono as stereo, but in the source location there are two files, mono left, mono right. When XMLing out of Resolve, the stereo pair is not being honored so i'm only carrying over one mono channel. Is there a better way to set this up so the recorded sound is actually a single stereo file rather than two mono files?
