Davinci Keeps saying database already in use

Anyone run into this? I'm trying to create a new database but it keeps saying that data base is already in use.

This is a fresh install with no previous versions of Davinci on it. There are no databases in existence on this computer except maybe a default one if that exists.

What is happening?

Resolve PostgreSQL databases are not really deleted when you delete them in the project manager. They are only made invisible to Resolve users. I haven't seen what you describe, but it's possible you have a DB of the same name. Try connecting to it instead of creating a new one.

You can also use pgAdminIII to show you all the databases on the server.

PostgreSQL or Disk database?

]I'm having a similar issue. I created the postgres server on the host machine (kept DaVinci's default settings for its setup), enabled sharing, and created an access key on a shared folder.

On the client machine, I dragged the access key file into the project manager, at which point it did nothing. When I tried dragging it in again, a dialogue popped up saying "Database already Exists" but it does not show up in the left-hand database list.

So, I tried connecting to it manually, and noticed the "Location" field is greyed out. (I cannot figure out how to manually change this. I know this was greyed out in DR16 and before as a means of locking Free users out of the collab functions, but don't know how to change this in DR17.)

Anyway, I just typed in "resolve" (the project server name) in the Name field and hit enter, and then I get the error:

I'm not a genius on postgres, but I'm hoping there's something simple I'm doing wrong here. Thoughts?

The location field being grayed out is a helpful indication that you are using the free version of Resolve.

It does not support remote PostgreSQL database access.

Hmm... Everywhere I look, DR17 is being touted as including the collaboration tools even in the free version, (ie, articles like this: https://nofilmschool.com/heres-whats-new-davinci-resolve-17) and there doesn't seem to be a clear delineation between the two versions regarding the collaboration tools on the BM site. (Even on the phone today, the rep wasn't sure which version had what.)

Am I misunderstanding what is meant by "collaboration tools" or are all these publications just wrong in saying it's a feature in the free version? I'm excited to use this feature- I ordered license keys weeks ago but still on backorder

You are not misunderstanding, but collab functionality has not yet been added to the free 17 beta. It's a work in progress.

Good to know – this was throwing me for a loop all morning trying to get a client's machine running the free version of 17 beta to connect to my primary workstation running 17 studio. Thank you for the clarification.

Is there any solution? I am having the same problem and I can't find that database in my computer to delete it....

I too am having the same issue. But instead of the server, I'm using the Disk. I located the folder where the file is supposed to be contained, but the attachment below is all that was contained.

The only file inside.

Just to be safe, I deleted the entire folder and I'm still having the same issue.

What is your specific issue?

If the oldest version of Resolve you've ever had installed on your system is 16, then that's not the database location.

I am trying to connect disk database with an old name database but this message shows up “This database is already in use”. But has no sense to me since that database name was disconnected a long time ago... Any idea?

Tell us the name of the database you are trying to connect to, and it's file path.

In the Resolve Help menu, select "Create Diagnostics Log on Desktop" and send us that file.
